APRL is an award-winning emerging paper engineer, illustrator, and designer. 🌞
April Capalungan, also known as APRL without an “i” represents what she creates or does isn’t fully about her.

She is indefinitely inspired by two distinct fields — science and arts.

Her dream has transformed from aspiring to be a doctor to a visual storyteller because of a life-changing eureka moment of self-discovery in her love for creating things.

From this, APRL merges practices from her Bachelor Degrees in Medical Technology (2015) and Visual Communication (2023). A reflection of her innate curiosity, keen eye for details, and playful experimentation in bringing ideas to life.

April Capalungan, APRL, is internationally recognized by the Movable Book Society as the winner of the Emerging Paper Engineer Prize 2023

A Tail's Tale, her undergraduate thesis, is internationally recognized by the Movable Book Society as the winner of the Emerging Paper Engineer Prize.

APRL’s first wordless picture book, The Final Invention, is one of the recognized long listed projects of dPICTUS: The Unpublished Picture Book Showcase 4.

APRL always creates with intention. She either reconstructs or deconstructs a subject by observing formations and finding its core in recreating what she calls “silent pop geometric style” inspired by Pictorial Modernism, Japanese Graphic Design and almost anything in between. As an eclectic creative, she also explores paper engineering and woodblock printmaking.

Selected notable clients of APRL include 8VC, Alliance Francaise de Manille, and Ayala Malls UPTC.

Let's work together! Make it a eureka moment.
Meet my studio buddies!

April hopes fully bloom in her own way and experience the fullness of life as it is. Starting from short afternoon walks as she basks herself in the warmth of the sun (of course, always wearing sunscreen!).

She shares a workspace with her pet, Antoinette
, whose main role in the studio is freelance napping. Along with interns Eggy and Julio.

A fluffy reminder to always dream :)
